Best way to mute cymbals *a bit*

Lord Fluff

Hi guys

Is there a way to make cymbals somewhat quieter for home practice but without losing all sense of them being cymbals? I have rubber things and have heard cymbomutes, but it just seems they end up a dull THONK and not at all like a cymbal.

For example I have a set of K/Z hats which are great but in a home setting feel loud as all hell. Is there a way to keep the great sound but just 'turn it down', other than just trying to playing them really gently?

I'm wondering if a set of L80s might not be the best answer, but right now in the UK they are impossible to get hold of...

Thanks all
